We had a fantastic day last week with our World Book Day in school. Thank you for all your efforts!
We read and enjoyed a variety of classic stories in literacy. In maths we had lots of fun involving money – please continue to talk about money with your children at home, recognising coins, adding and subtracting small amounts and incorporating role play wherever possible.
Pancake Day was lovely last week too – thank you for all your support with providing certain items for our lesson.
Our next learning:
Maths: We will be focusing once again on number. We will be doing lots of adding and subtracting within and around 20. We will also be revising number bonds to 10 and 20. Towards the end of the week we will be solving one step problems involving addition and subtraction which include missing number problems.
Literacy: We will have a focus on materials this week in preparation for our new topic: A Grand Day out. We are classifying materials and learning all about their properties. We will be grouping and comparing materials as well as identifying their uses in everyday life.
PLEASE COULD CHILDREN BRING INTO SCHOOL A SMALL A6 SIZE PICTURE OF THE FRONT OF THEIR HOUSE. WE WILL BE LABELLING THE MATERIALS AND COMPARING THE PROPERTIES WITH OUR STORY FROM LAST WEEK. IF THIS IS NOT POSSIBLE PLEASE SEND A DRAWING SHOWING WINDOWS/ ROOF/DOOR/ WALLS ETC.
Spellings: To teach/revise split a-e
A FINAL PLEA – Children should have their own P.E kit in everyday. Please could we get any remaining P.E kits into school ASAP.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.
