Year 5 Curriculum Notes 18.03.19

It has been another great week in Year 5! We have loved creating our own Mayan myths in Literacy and Mayan gods out of clay so look out for a new Mayan display in the Junior building very soon!

Next week we will be focusing on grammar and technical skills such a dictionary work and editing our writing. In creative curriculum we will be exploring how to give simple directions in French and continuing our work on the Mayans.

In Numeracy we will be continuing with decimals and exploring some measures tasks too. We will be converting between measures and solving reasoning challenges.

Homework:

Miss Fowkes’s maths group: To tackle 3 reasoning questions about percentages and decimals using bar models to explain your ideas. This is to support the work we have completed in class this week.

Mr B’s maths group: To complete the problems using length.

Literacy: To write a paragraph about your Mayan God which you made out of clay. You must describe their characteristics and powers. We would like you to describe which world your God belongs to using lots of expanded noun phrases. Can you include any parenthesis and relative clauses too?!

Have a great weekend 🙂
